A Spectacular Start to the 2025 Dubel Prize: Celebrating Natasha Moss at The Other House

The 2025 Dubel Prize launched in grand style with our first finalist event, celebrating the incredibly talented Natasha Moss at The Other House in South Kensington. This exclusive evening brought together 180 esteemed guests who gathered to experience Natasha’s captivating work, beautifully displayed by Red Eight Gallery. It was a night filled with art, inspiration, and a shared appreciation for creativity and innovation.

A Night of Inspiration and Thought-Provoking Conversations

The event featured remarkable speakers, each bringing their own perspective on the significance of art and its power to transform. Richard Utting from Centrepoint spoke passionately about the role of art in social impact, while Julian Usher from Red Eight Gallery shared insights into curating and supporting emerging talent. Naomi Heaton, the visionary founder of The Other House, welcomed guests and highlighted the importance of spaces that cultivate artistic expression.

As the first finalist in this year’s Dubel Prize, Natasha Moss set the tone for what promises to be an extraordinary journey. Her work, which explores instinctive creativity over forced narratives, resonated deeply with those in attendance.

Natasha Moss: An Artist’s Journey to Authenticity

Natasha Moss’s artistic journey has been one of self-discovery, learning to break free from the confines of artistic expectations. Reflecting on her evolution, Natasha shares:

“For years, I felt the need to embody a certain ‘artist’ stereotype—deep, complex, driven by intense, conceptual narratives. I pushed myself to be more profound, to work from a brutally honest, biographical place, and to examine my own methodology, feeling I had to match this idealized image of what an artist ‘should’ be. But what does that even mean? At some point, I began to believe that to be relevant in the art world, I had to dig into my wounds, history, and political beliefs, to tear at the depths of myself.”

It was through revisiting the works of Marcel Duchamp, particularly 3 stoppages, that Natasha had a revelation. Inspired by Duchamp’s organic, intuitive approach, she embraced the idea of creating from a place of instinct rather than pressure. While completing her Fine Art degree at Central Saint Martins, she sought to access a subconscious flow, allowing her work to evolve naturally rather than forcing a particular narrative.

A Promising Journey Ahead

Natasha’s work embodies the very essence of the Dubel Prize—pushing boundaries, challenging norms, and celebrating artistic individuality. Her ability to blend instinct with expression made this opening event a true celebration of creativity.

With this powerful start, we look forward to the upcoming finalist events and, ultimately, the moment when we crown the winner of the 2025 Dubel Prize. This year’s competition is set to highlight some of the most groundbreaking artists in contemporary art, and we are thrilled to embark on this journey with them.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to celebrate innovation, artistry, and the boundless potential of creative minds.
