OUR NINTH FINALIST

Ellie Damant

Ellie Damant is a British figurative painter whose work explores questions of human identity, commodification, and the economic forces shaping our lives. Trained at the Ruskin School of Art, she holds a BFA and MA from Oxford University and won a scholarship throughout her studies. She also holds an MA in Philosophy, specialising in aesthetics and painting. Her practice bridges painting and philosophy, treating visual art as a form of philosophical inquiry into the creation/questioning of meaning and value. As a previously commissioned portraitist, her sitters have included Royalty, business and culture leaders, and city figures such as Alderman Tim Hailes, with her portraits unveiled at Mansion House, the Walbrook Club, and Painters’ Hall. Her work is in private collections and Magdalen College Art Collection, Oxford. Selected as a finalist for the Dubel Prize 2025, Damant has created a solo exhibition of 20 new paintings delving into the human condition we all share and experience today.
